Vacation with Ease Gluten Free

Do your specific dietary needs keep you from gathering or vacationing the way you want? Is your dream to go somewhere with friends and eat out at your choice of restaurants? Do you just want to vacation with ease, gluten-free?

We feel that pain!

Cheryl is no stranger to major dietary challenges. For years, she has suffered with multiple food allergies. Here’s how she describes what it’s been like for her:

“In the beginning, my body responded either by inflating like Violet in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory or becoming alarmingly thin. I remember being up in the wee hours of the morning, pacing and praying because I felt like I couldn’t breathe. After being tested and eliminating foods my body saw as poison, I began recovering.

But going on vacation was a chore!

My dietary challenges kept us from going out to eat and vacationing the way we wanted for years. Instead, it was easier to cook several meals ahead of time and take them with us. That usually meant driving versus flying. During the rest of our vacation, I spent time grocery shopping and cooking. Yes, it was wonderful to get away, but having restaurants that truly understood allergies would have been fabulous.

Thankfully, there are many places now that have allergy menus. However, there’s still some concern for cross contamination. Still, I have found some places that have separate ovens and equipment for those who are allergic to wheat or intolerant to gluten.”

There really are great vacation spots if you have specific dietary needs!

If any of the above sounds familiar, we wanted to share an option where you can go and actually take a break from the kitchen. While there are times there’s no avoiding cooking your own food on vacation, we know sometimes all we want is a break from the meal planning and the prepping ahead and the cooking while on vacation! And a break from the kitchen is truly a vacation for us home cooks! And goodness knows, you need a good, refreshing vacation, right?!

So run right now and check out Sandals and Beaches Resorts for your next getaway. These fantastic, all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean have 5 star chefs and dedicated ovens for those who have food allergies. In fact, you can contact their chefs about your dietary needs. They will create menus for you so you can eat at their onsite gourmet restaurants without worry. Plus, it’s included in your booking. (And did we mention room service? This is a great option if you want a cozy evening in…just make sure to contact the chef ahead of time to prepare your meal if you have specific requests. You can even do this before you arrive so you have meals ready for you from the start.)

In addition, they will also order alcoholic beverages, such as gluten-free beer, to have waiting for you. It’s a good idea to set this up at least 3 weeks in advance of your trip so they can make sure to stock it for you.

You really can vacation with ease gluten-free.
