What to Do with a Fork

Shoes from Todd and Gina's Wedding

We’ve all experienced it: that fork in the road when it comes to making decisions.

You are rolling merrily along in planning your wedding when suddenly you come to a grinding halt. There are three paths before you and you are not sure which one to take.

When it comes to your wedding, there are so many exciting details making up the whole event it can be hard to visualize what everything will look like. There are an abundance of options to choose from. And then it hits- that paralyzing indecision. What do you do now?

This is where it is important to have someone who is able to sit with you and your soon-to-be-spouse and go over your vision of the Big Day. Vision is important to make dreams become reality. It will guide your planning. It will help sort out what works for you as a couple so your wedding reflects you.

In planning a wedding, part of setting the vision is to know what you want your event to say. A wedding is like an opening statement as a married couple. Think about what you want to remember when you look back on your day. Do you want recall spending time with all the family and friends who came to support you? Do you want to think about quiet, intimate moments with your spouse that you smuggled into the day? Are there elements that reflect your faith that you want to be included? Is there a particular theme that shows aspects of who you are that you want to incorporate?

Asking these types of questions will give you a spring board for casting the vision for your day. As you create your vision, remember to decide on the level of formality. Knowing both of these will provide clarity as you come to those forks in the road.

Your wedding planner can ease the process of decision-making by catching your vision and then making vendor and decor suggestions that are personalized. Many times a planner will also act as a go-between, finalizing details with vendors and your wedding party according to the vision that you have laid out. All of your vendors are an integral part of helping you achieve your vision so the more clearly you can communicate it, the more they will know how to help.
